President
Jarrod E. Patterson is a native of Huntsville, Alabama and a 1992 graduate of Oakwood Adventist Academy. He earned a B.A. in English from Oakwood University (1996), an M.Ed. in Secondary Education/English from Alabama A&M University (1998), and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (2013). A higher education professional for 22 years, Jarrod currently serves as an Assistant Professor and Advising Coordinator in the Department of English & Foreign Languages at Alabama A&M University. He is the owner of AdvisorUniversity, an educational consulting service specializing in faculty academic advisor development at institutions of higher education.
Jarrod is very active at First SDA Church, serving on the deacon board and the education department. He is also vice-chair of the HASDA School Board. Jarrod resides in Harvest, Alabama, with Keshia, his wife of 18 years, and their three sons: Carson and Carter (11) and Harper (6), all students at Oakwood Elementary.

Born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, Traci began her Oakwood Experience at Oakwood Elementary, continued to Oakwood Middle and eventually went on to graduate as a class officer (Secretary) and with honors from the “Mighty Class of 2002” at (then) Oakwood Academy.
Later that year, Traci began her tenure at Oakwood College, where she majored in General Studies and Biochemistry. Having newly received its university status, Traci completed her bachelor degree(s) from Oakwood University as a part of its inaugural graduating class in 2008. Before coming full circle and returning to accept a position back at her alma mater in 2012, Traci worked for Nektar Therapeutics, a pharmaceutical research laboratory. She is a volunteer at the Cornerstone Initiative and works full time at Marshall Space Flight Center. A product of Christian Education here at Oakwood Adventist Academy, Traci Preston shines brightly as a wonderful example of how Oakwood truly prepares a person not only for the doors of its own institution, but the world at large.

Ernestine Brown is a Registered Nurse by career, born in Chattanooga Tennessee. She attended Oakwood Academy during the years of 1964 to 1967. She then went on to attend Oakwood College from 1967-1969. She left there to continue her education at Loma Linda University School of Nursing. Ernestine’s specialty was in the area of Maternal Child Nursing. She practiced nursing for 32 years and has been a Nurse for 39 years. During these years worked in various capacities of maternal child clinical nursing. However her nursing did take her beyond the walls of the hospital to teach at Loma Linda University School of Nursing as a Professor there and an Admission Director. Her final years of nursing encompassed working with the developmentally delayed population ages 0-3year and the managed care population handling many Medicare Medical/Medicaid clients. Among her greatest accomplishments are her four children and a bonus daughter she was blessed to have when she married the Dr/Pastor Walter Brown. She is an Author, a CEO of her own Non-profit and now a grandmother to many grandchildren on whom she dote. To Ernestine, falling in love with, choosing and serving Christ is the best thing she has ever done in her life!
